The Next Picture Show celebrated it's third year anniversary as a fine arts center to the community with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at the gallery.

“We have many things to celebrate at The Next Picture Show this month,” said Bonnie Kime, executive director. “As a community fine arts center, we are happy to share all the great things going on here. Between our exhibits, featured artists, classes and beautiful facility, there is really something for everyone.”

The Next Picture Show opened as a private gallery in 2004 after an extensive renovation to the 1854 building, which is owned by Ralph and Jane Edgar. The renovations included bringing back the front façade to match an 1898 picture, installing tin ceilings and building an upper level loft.

The gallery became a nonprofit organization in 2005, featuring works from local artists and from students at area schools. Since it opened, the gallery has displayed the work of more than 200 artists and welcomed more than 2,000 visitors. “We’ve had people in from all over the United States, and from Australia, Romania and other countries,” Kime said. “Art is a universal language and it brings people together.”
