Sold-out Koloc Concert a Success

Folk singer Bonnie Koloc played a sold-out concert recently at The Next Picture Show.

Koloc is known for her versatile voice, a folk-oriented style merged with jazz and blues; she has sung in Chicago since 1968.

She also is an accomplished illustrator, print maker, painter and ceramist. Her performance Friday at the gallery marks the first such concert in that venue, with plans for performances by other folk singers in the future. "We were happy to bring a performer of this caliber to The Next Picture Show," said Bonnie Kime, the gallery's executive director. "The koloc-crowd.jpgtickets sold out within a matter of days, which shows there is an interest here in this kind of event." In October, folk artist Corky Siegel will be performing at the gallery.
