This season's concerts are as follows:

  • Presidio Brass: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 7 p.m., at Dixon High School Auditorium

  • Presidio Brass presents engaging live musical programs through unusual repertoire and the development of close ties with their audience. Performances include music as varied as their own personal experiences, ranging in style from Renaissance to contemporary jazz and film scores.

Predominantly active in southern California orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Diego Symphony, their primary focus is to "musicate" children through innovative programs that cultivate musical sensibility and promote discipline and respect. The Presidio Brass consistently showcase such high artistic quality, reaching adoring audiences locally, nationally and throughout the world.
  • Rastrelli Quartet: Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7 p.m., at Sterling Centennial Auditorium

  • The Rastrelli Cello Quartet was formed in Stuttgart, Germany in 2002, by four Russians. Three of these cellists studied at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory while the fourth studied at the Minsk State Conservatory. Though fate brought them together, a shared desire to prove that it is possible to play any style of music on the cello - from baroque to rock - binds them together and drives them forward. Their repertoire consists entirely of transcriptions - music not intended to be performed on the cello. They can sound like a symphony one moment and play ragtime, jazz or even a polka the next.

  • John Bayless: Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7 p.m., at Sterling Centennial Auditorium

  • To say that John Bayless is a pianist, is like saying that Rockefeller was rich! John is a highly charismatic performer and a superb pianist with a rare gift for improvisation. He will combine the classic style of Bach with pops music and make it sound fabulous.

John grew up in Texas and fell in love with the piano through his church upbringing. He went on to become a scholarship student of the Aspen Festival, a graduate of Juilliard and a student of Leonard Bernstein. He has recorded numerous CDs including "Bach Meets the Beatles", "West Side Story", "The Puccini Album", "Movie Themes", "Romantica", and "Christmas Rhapsody".

  • Jeni Fleming Acoustic Trio: Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 7 p.m., Historic Dixon Theatre

  • The Jeni Fleming Acoustic Trio, led by Jeni's powerful and honest voice, defies easy classification. Capable of delivering classical and jazz dichotomies in one breath, breezy folk tunes with a modern twist, and vibrant original pop in another, the Trio is rapidly garnering fans from coast to coast.

Jeni is joined by husband Jake Fleming on saxophone/guitar and supported with acoustic bass. The Trio's repertoire ranges from folksy acoustic renditions of Jerry Jeff Walker to rockin' versions of Cyndi Lauper... but in the end, their connection to one another through jaz-z is at the heart of every exciting tune.
