Farms & Barns II Winners Announced

Best of Show: Mahopac Barn
One of the most popular exhibits at The Next Picture Show will stage a repeat performance this year. Farms & Barns II opens Sept. 14 with a public reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The show runs through Oct. 16 at the gallery located at 113 W. First St. The public is invited to stop by, meet the artists and enjoy the exhibit.

6x6x6: Adults' ART Camp underway

The first class was the Drawing class by Debbie Thompson. Debbie said that the attendees are a really good group and a good time was had by all.

Grand Detour Arts Festival Winners Announced

gdaf-fest-people.jpgGRAND DETOUR - Roxy Hey, of Dixon, owns a reproduction of Jeanne Rager's "Trails End" painting. She'd purchased it for her log cabin in Tennessee.

"You can feel it, can't you? It's as though you're in the picture," Hey said as she gazed at the original piece Sunday at the 59th Annual Grand Detour Arts Festival. The watercolor painting shows two men dressed in Western gear headed to their cabin on horseback during winter. Frosty, sparkling snow blankets the ground and trees in the scene, and the cabin is lit with a soft glow.

Leydig Center Awards TNPS Grant

The Next Picture Show recently received a $2,000 grant from the Leydig Center, a Dixon organization that aims to assist not-for-profit groups.

“Our goal is to help agencies that do something good and valuable for the community. We support a wide range of efforts. We believe The Next Picture Show does a great job promoting arts in the community,” said Jim Grot, president of the Leydig Center Board of Directors.
