Save the Show! As many of you know, the current economic climate has not been kind to the gallery. We have been struggling more and more to keep our doors open, to continue to offer a constant flow of art, music, and education to all. The generous response to our fundraising campaign has given us hope that we may continue to offer Dixon a haven of beauty and creativity into the future. To all who have poured out support for the gallery, we thank you for bringing us so close to our goal for September! Please spread the word and keep the momentum going!

Current Show: Lincoln Bicentennial & Vintage Art Sale
September 11 - October 6, 2009 | Opening reception Friday, September 11, 6pm
Abraham Lincoln's life included many themes that have inspired artists through time; from such epic themes as war and peace, slavery and freedom, patriotism and betrayal; to more personal ones, the death of beloved family, daily poverty, and the struggle against failure. This show explores artists' conceptions of this great American hero’s vision of equality and equal opportunities.

The Vintage Art Sale will be going on through October 6 as well. All proceeds of the sale of these artworks will benefit The Next Picture Show. Come and take a look!

TNPS members enjoy many special benefits including discounted tuition for classes and workshops, advance notice of gallery exhibitions and opportunities to show artwork throughout the year. VIVA! Family Fine Arts Festival
September 18-19-20
This three-day Festival presented by VIVA! Performing Arts School and the Canterbury Music Society features outstanding artists in programs designed to attract families throughout the region to visit Dixon and introduce their children to fine music. Funds will be raised to benefit AIDS Orphanages in Zambia and Kenya. Events will celebrate the local community and explore our place in the wider world by experiencing cultural diversity.

Benefit Event: The Artist's Little Secret
October 9, 6pm
In this fun event, a selected group of artists will be given 11"x14" canvases to create whatever pieces they choose. On the evening of Friday, October 9, the unsigned canvases will be auctioned off with the artists signing the works only after they have been purchased. Proceeds of the sales will benefit The Next Picture Show. More»

Grand Detour Fine Arts Festival
September 13, 9am-4pm
Some 61 years ago a number of local artists and art patrons from in and around Grand Detour planned and sponsored an arts festival during the late summer season. Since then the festival has grown and now includes a separate student art show. Food and beverage concessions have also been added and music has become an integral part of the Sunday show.More»
