TNPS strives to offer a variety of classes, workshops, instructors for all age levels.

how to paint & Draw

 

Whether a beginner or in need of a refresher course this class is designed to teach techniques and sound art principles. It's about understanding color and its properties, how to create depth and dimension along with other timeless information. 

 

  • 6 Week Session – You may start at any time
  • Schedule: Every Monday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Ages: 18 and older of all experience levels

 

Instructor: Beverly Garcia

Beverly Garcia began her art studies in 1984 with classes at Studio in the Woods in Wauconda, Illinois.  She continued her studies in workshops with many nationally recognized artists, took classes at the American Academy of Arts in Chicago, and at the Halstead Academy in Evanston.  She has done commissioned portraits, has been represented in several galleries in Illinois, and her works are in collections around the country.

OIL

This workshop encourages beginners as well as artists who want help finishing an oil painting. These 2-1/2 hour classes will give the student time for class instruction/ discussion plus ample time to implement the teachings.

  • Schedule: Every Tuesday from 5:30pm - 8:00pm
  • Ages: 18 and older of all experience levels

Instructor: Stuart Roddy

Stuart is a teacher at Sterling High School, Sauk Valley Community College and TNPS. He received his BA & MA at the University of Illinois. His has won numerous awards including Best of Show Elmhurst, Il. 2007, Best of Show Rockford, 2004 & 07, and the President's Award Phidian Art Show in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

 

WATERCOLOR

These watercolor lessons will get you started, teach you techniques and inspire you to be a better watercolor painter.

Instructor: Graydon Cafarella

Graydon graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1973, and worked many years as an artist/art supervisor for R H Donnelley Corp. He has exhibited in Chicago area art fairs and gallery exhibits since 1974, and was gallery chairman at Vogt Visual Arts Center in Tinley Park, IL 1997-2001. Graydon is also a watercolor instructor at Palos Heights, Oak Forest, and Orland Park park districts.

Young Artist Studio

Ten week art experience for 1st—6th graders. Students experience a wide range of artistic media and concepts taught by five accomplished instructors. Each of the five art subjects are covered over a period of two weeks for a total of ten weeks.  Students receive a graduation certificate and TNPS will hold a student artwork show and awards on the main level of the gallery at the conclusion of the class series.  One class series in the spring and one in the fall.

 

6 x 6 x 6 Summer Art Camp

Six weeks, six instructors, six different ways to make art. Give your kids the TOTAL ART PACKAGE.  Enroll them in our TNPS Summer Art Camp for children ages 8 to 13.
